Grants Management Certificate Program™
Management Concepts Grants Management Certificate Program™ is a comprehensive training program designed to help candidates develop a solid foundation in grants management. The program offers three tracks — for federal awarding agencies, pass-through entities, and recipients of federal awards — to meet the needs of specific segments in the federal grants community.
The Grants Management Certificate Program™ is based on feedback we received from business/financial and program personnel representing all members of the grants community — federal, state, local, and Indian tribal governments; colleges and universities; nonprofits; and profit-making entities. We inquired about typical job duties and tasks, the frequency with which these functions are performed, and the statutes, regulations, and governmentwide guidance that must be followed. We then designed a competency-based program to parallel the skills and knowledge required on the job.
The National Grants Management Association (NGMA) recommends Management Concepts' Grants Management Certificate Program™ as a valuable professional development tool for the grants community.
The Grants Management Certificate Program™ offers three tracks based on the distinct segments within the grants community:
- Federal — Designed for employees of federal agencies that award grants and cooperative agreements.
- Pass-Through — Designed for employees of entities that receive federal funds and then subaward those funds to other organizations that actually perform the programmatic work.
- Recipient — Designed for employees of organizations that receive federal funds, either directly from a federal agency or from a pass-through entity, and use those funds to perform programmatic work.

Candidates must successfully complete, within a three-year period, a total of 15 days of training. Courses vary based on your chosen track.

All Grants Management Certificate Program™ candidates must:
- Submit a Letter of Intent .
- Complete all course work in your chosen track within three years. (The three-year time frame begins on the first day of the first course you take in the program)
- Attend each course in its entirety to receive full course credit.
- Pass a final examination at the end of each core course. (Exams are pass/fail.)
We highly recommend that Grants Management Certificate Program™ graduates maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills by completing a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education annually by attending Management Concepts update seminars or conferences sponsored by the National Grants Management Association (NGMA), the Society of Research Administrators (SRA), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and other organizations serving grants professionals.
