Course Objectives: Students will: Develop a monitoring plan · Evaluate hypothetical grant scenarios to determine whether prior approval is required · Analyze recipient progress and financial reports to identify deficiencies and potential problem areas · Identify weaknesses in recipient internal controls through a mock site visit · Use the Federal Audit Clearinghouse database as a monitoring tool · Determine appropriate special conditions for high-risk recipients · Analyze scenarios illustrating recipient waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs and determine appropriate responses · Practice negotiating resolution of problems that arise during grant performance
