Q. Can I receive Certificate Program credit for the courses I took before I signed up?
Yes, you may count courses taken up to one year prior to submitting your Letter of Intent, as long as you met the requirement for full attendance and passed the final exam (if applicable).
Q. May I enroll in more than one Certificate Program track?
Yes, but be aware that special conditions apply to candidates working on multiple certificates. You may reuse core courses for credit in more than one track. However, you may not count the same course as both a core course in one track and an elective in another track. You must earn a separate set of elective credits for each track.
Q. Do courses have to be taken in sequence to get Certificate Program credit?
No, but many courses have suggested prerequisites. For more details, please see our suggested sequence of courses here. The suggested prerequisites and follow-on courses are intended to assist students in designing a comprehensive program of study, where classes build on knowledge gained in previous classes.
Q. Can I get credit for a course if I buy the book and pass the exam?
No. To receive certificate program credit for any course, you must both fully attend the course and, in certain courses, also pass a final exam. Course materials are available only to attendees.
Q. Whom should I talk to if I need help choosing electives?
Upon enrolling in the program, you will be assigned an adviser. Your adviser can assist you in designing the program of study best suited to your job needs and career goals.
Q. Can I substitute other Management Concepts grants courses for core courses?
No. The core courses for each track were carefully designed to give students, whether in a business/financial position or a program position, a firm grounding in the basics of Federal grants.
Q. Do e-Learning versions of Management Concepts Grants and Assistance courses count for certificate program credit?
Yes, unless otherwise specified.

We highly recommend that Grants Management Certificate Program ™ graduates maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills by completing a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education annually by enrolling in Management Concepts annual Federal Grants Update course and our full curriculum offerings, or seminars or conferences sponsored by the National Grants Management Association (NGMA), Grant Professionals Association (GPA), the Society of Research Administrators (SRA), National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and other organizations serving grants professionals.
