If you are like me, you realize maintaining effective relationships is not easy. Think back to your ineffective relationships: what role did emotions play? In our professional lives, unhealthy relationships affect team chemistry, advancement, and even engagement. In fact, Gallup estimates employee disengagement cost U.S. companies $450-$550 billion a year — not exactly pocket change. Therefore, how does being emotionally-mindful set effective relationships apart from ineffective ones?

Emotional Intelligence, as a psychological theory, was developed by Peter Salovey and John Mayer. More recently, Daniel Goleman, a Harvard-trained psychologist, is credited for popularizing the term. Psychology Today defines emotional intelligence as “the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.” Emotional Intelligence also involves taking a concerted, cognitive approach to managing your emotions, expressing yourself, and doing such in a manner that reflects empathy when socializing and building relationships. Recognizing its value and distinction from traditional measures of intelligence, even the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has introduced evaluation and application of Emotional Intelligence in Federal agencies.

In this webinar on May 8, 2019, you will:

  • Learn the four elements of Emotional Intelligence
  • Explore individual and organizational advantages and disadvantages related to Emotional Intelligence
  • Take home specific, actionable items that promote effective relationships
  • Become aware of training opportunities for evaluating and improving Emotional Intelligence within Federal agencies

So whether you’re in the executive suite or not, this session is for you. Register today!
