2 CFR 200, also known as the Uniform Guidance, is the government-wide rulebook for how federal grant money should be managed. It’s issued by the Office of Management and Budget and formally titled “Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.” It outlines the entire grant lifecycle from pre-award risk assessments to single audit requirements. It’s critical for grant managers to have a through understanding of 2 CFR 200 so they can set their programs up for success and reduce the risk of audit findings.
