Stop Screaming Into the Void: Cultivating Productive Relationships with Federal Grantors
Date: Friday, November 4
Time 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
Presenters: Sarah Hluchan & Holly Mooney
We're all doing 14 things at once and federal grantors are no exception. Communicating with federal grantors can be stressful, but it is essential to the success of your project. It's important to remember that while you come from different places and have different responsibilities, you have a common goal- you both want your program to succeed and benefit your recipients.
In this session, we will take a close look at the importance of building a solid grantor/grantee relationship. You will learn strategies for effective communication, leveraging core techniques of emotional intelligence designed to help you build and maintain strong relationships. We'll explore how to best communicate whether in person, on the phone, or through email, when to communicate, and what to communicate (hint: it goes beyond basic reporting). You will also learn strategies for navigating tense conversations and building confidence and trust in relationships. We'll also touch on how to effectively communicate with subrecipients and subcontractors, including techniques for getting what you need, setting expectations, and cultivating a positive, productive relationship.
